The Saints held the lead for most of the 2nd quarter but heading into halftime St. Matthew cut the lead to 1 point 17-16. Holy Trinity once again held the lead in the 3rd quarter with good defense and stong post play. With four minutes to play in the fourth quarter Holy Trinity missed a lay-up and Champaign rebound the ball and drove the length of the court take the lead in the game. This was the first time since the 2:30 mark in the third quarter that the Raiders had the lead. From here on out the two teams traded the lead during the fourth quarter. With 24 seconds to play in the fourth quarter Champaign was down by 2 points. With 11 seconds to play #24 Kevin Carroll was fouled taking a shot and went to the line for 2 free throws and a chance to tie the game. With the pressure on Kevin drained both free throws to tie the game. Holy Trinity did get a good look at a basket at the end of the game by #30 Matt Rave but the ball went in and out of the hoop. Overtime.
There was little scoring in the overtime period and a lot of turnovers and when the buzzer went off Holy Trinity was up by 1 point. The Saints finished the season 21-7 and 8-2A State Champions. #24 Kevin Carroll for Champaign St. Matthew and #25 Nick Schroeder for Bloomington Holy Trinity were leading scorers for the game with 13 points apiece.
