Match Comments: In the first quarterfinal of the bottom bracket, the Saints of Bloomington Holy Trinity defeated the Lions of Albion 25-15 and 25-22. Bloomington was aggressive from the early going, setting up multiple kills that contributed to their early lead. Addy Loeffler led both teams with her three aces for the Saints, while teammate Kimmy Sendelbach tallied an impressive 12 service points. Both of their efforts paved the way for a 25-15 game one win for Bloomington. Early on in game two it looked like much of the same story, as the Lions of Albion faced an 11-2 deficit seemingly out of the gate. Give the Lions credit however, as they battled back to tie the game at 19 all. That comeback was fueled by the play of both Kenley Fewkes and Karis Hortin, who had a combined 12 service points on the afternoon. However, the Saints would come out victorious, thanks much in part to their exceptional defense and timely scoring.
With the win, Bloomington advances to the second semi-final contest of the afternoon, awaiting the winner of Lewistown Central and Grant Park. The second semi-final game kicks off tonight at 5:15 p.m.
Congratulations to both teams! |
