Match Comments: With the 7-2A championship hanging in the balance, the Bloomington Holy Trinity Saints used a remarkable comeback to narrowly defeat Danville Schlarman by the final score of two games to none. Kimmy Sendelbach led the charge for the Saints early and often in game one, converting 8 of her eventual 14 service points on the night. It was a combination of Sendelbach and the Saints savvy defense that led the charge onward toward their 25-17 game one victory. Game two was a much different story early on, as the Hilltoppers seemingly flipped the switch on Holy Trinity. Arieal Scott played a phenomenal game, as #4 for Schlarman was in on what seemed to be every critical point for her Hilltoppers. At one point, Danville Schlarman built an impressive 22-12 lead that surely looked to be enough to contain the challenging Saints. It was not to be however, as remarkable as it sounds, Bloomington Holy Trinity went on an unbelievable 16-4 run to eventually defeat Schlarman 28-26. This comeback effort was fueled by the Saints Jennie Connor, who tallied four aces and nine service points in the title clinching game. Gracious in defeat were the Hilltoppers, as Arieal Scott finished the evening with four aces and 10 service points of her own.
Congratulations to both teams on outstanding seasons. |
