Game Comments: Peoria Limestone Walters Starters: 4, 12, 15, 20, 21. Virginia Starters: 1, 2, 10, 15, 22. Dirk Winkelman hit a baseline jumper for Virginia to tie the score at 2-2 with 4:22 to go in the first quarter and Virginia did not get another field goal until Tyler Ring made a three-pointer with 4:45 to go in the second quarter. Peoria Limestone Walters led 8-2 prior to Ring's trey, which made the score 8-5, and the pressure full court defense from the Rockets caused Virginia problems and the Rockets scored the last nine points of the second quarter. Virginia's Tyler Ring was limited to just a three-point basket in the first half as he was shadowed by Peoria Limestone Walters' Cody Rupp. In the second half, Ring was able to penetrate the lane or hit a three-pointer from out top right and he poured in 15 points in the secondhalf, 10 in the fourth quarter. Peoria Limestone Walters made 6 of 8 free throws in the fourth quarter when Virginia fouled to get the ball back. |
