Sedona Semradek is an outstanding student, a leader through her service, and a valuable member of her community. For these reasons, she has been selected as the Scholar Attitude Award winner representing Board of Directors Division A.
She maintains an outstanding grade point average while supporting her own company and participating in track. She’s most proud of qualifying for the state track meet last year as a member of the 4x100 relay team. During sectionals, the team posted its fastest time of the season and qualified for the state meet where they finished third. “Our times in the beginning of the season were not the best and going to State seemed like reaching for the clouds. But we had the mindset and the determination. It was sheer discipline and grit that helped us place 3rd. It was amazing,” Sedona says.
This accomplishment is a result of hard work and discipline, she says, and she believes participation in interscholastic activities has helped her develop a stronger sense of herself. “Being part of Track and Field brought my broken pieces back together. As soon as my feet hit the track, my mind started to clear. I would push myself every day at practice to start to be myself. Me, the true me,” she adds.
Through her own experiences, Sedona would like to pursue teaching so that she can “help teach, coach, and guide students just like myself who might need a little help and encouragement along the way” she says. Her mentors and involvement in activities has changed her perspective and her life.
