Amanda Dahlquist

Peoria St. Mark

Amanda Dahlquist

Principal:

Peoria St. Mark School is the stomping ground of Amanda Dahlquist who keeps herself very busy in track, cross-country, basketball, soccer and volleyball, not to mention student council and volunteering for St. Jude and Cystic Fibrosis events.

Her inspiration is her sister Carey who she says personifies dedication to excellence not just in sports, but also academically. Add that to her spiritual devotion and Amanda says her sister sets a superb example for her.

As for challenges, this young woman has emerged from her own person struggle with Alopecia (extreme hair loss) which happened to her in sixth grade. Clearly more trying than that was the tragic death of her older brother Danny shortly thereafter.

Amanda's own experiences have helped form her opinion about changes she'd like to see in the world, mainly making sure everyone has a home where they can feel safe and secure, and that all children have a strong family.
