Eva Meyer
Amboy
Principal:
Amboy's Eva Meyer says detasseling corn last summer is the accomplishment she's most proud of because some of the people around her didn't think she'd last a season. Not only did Eva prove them wrong, she dutifully worked on her birthday 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. It is that determination that explains her desire to go to Harvard and study law. Eva says the person she most admires is Oprah Winfrey because she's a prime example of what America is about. Even if you are born into poverty you can be anything you want to be and, in Oprah's case, the first black woman billionaire. Whether it's gymnastics, swimming, 4-H, band, chorus, student council, science club or academic bowl, Eva Meyer proves every day the point of her sportsmanship essay. She says when you have a good attitude, you just do better at the things you want to do; you have the courage to get up when you fall and not let difficulties get you down.
