4 All-Time Records Set in 2006 Class AA IESA State Track Meet

EAST PEORIA - Records were set in three individual events and two relays - four of them all-time marks -- Saturday in the final day of the 2006 IESA Class AA State Final Track and Field Meet at Corwin Clatt Stadium in the EastSide Centre.

Anthony Pierson won the 200 in an all-time and Class 7AA boys time of :22.76. He earlier won the 100 in :11.48, the third time he went below :11.5 in the 100 in a 14-hour stretch. Friday he broke the Class 7AA record in the 100 twice, posting an :11.09 in the semifinals after winning his preliminary heat in :11.11.

Auburn's James Dambacher set the all-time and Class 8AA boys record in the shot put with a tremendous toss of 56-7. Dambacher got his mark on his third and final attempt in the preliminaries.

Cahokia Wirth set the all-time and Class 8AA boys record in the 4 x 100 relay blazing to a time of :45.84. Cahokia Wirth's Class 8AA girls 4 x 100 relay set the all-time and Class 8AA girls record with a time of :50.56.

Davaris Daniels of Vernon Hills Hawthorn set the 7AA high jump record clearing 5-11.25. The old mark was 5-10 shared by three others.

Rochester's Erica Bertrand won the 8AA girls pole vault with a mark of 9-8. She tried for the all-time record at 10-1, and failed in three attempts. In her first attempt at the all-time record she got over the bar but knocked it off on the way down.

In the battle for team titles, Carlinville won the 7AA girls title with 58 points. Cahokia Wirth took the 7AA boys title with 54 points. Cahokia Wirth won the 8AA girls team title with 56 points. In the 8AA boys team race, the title went to East St. Louis Lincoln with 46 points.
