In April of 2006, the IESA Board of Directors approved a recommendation from the Constitution Action Team that established annual meetings of member schools in each Board of Directors Division (Article 1.041 of the IESA Constitution). These meetings will be held in the fall of each new school year. Attendance at these fall meetings is mandatory for each member school that enters one or more IESA activities. Feeder schools (generally K-5, K-6, or 5-6 buildings which feed the junior high school) that do not enter any IESA activities are not required to attend a division meeting. A feeder school that enters an IESA activity (usually speech or music) must attend a division meeting.
Dates for the 2008 meetings are now available below. Member schools may attend any division meeting that they wish. While we strongly encourage the principals of each member school to attend these meetings, we are very aware that schedules might make it difficult for each principal to do so.
Therefore, any person(s) designated by the school may attend one of the meetings. Each person(s) in attendance will be required to complete an attendance card. If a member school does not attend a meeting this fall, they will be placed on probation the first year of noncompliance. If a member school does not comply in the second year, the school shall not be permitted to participate after January 1 in any state series.
IF YOU DID NOT ATTEND A DIVISION MEETING IN THE FALL OF 2008, YOUR SCHOOL IS ON PROBATION AND HAS BEEN NOTIFIED OF SUCH. IF YOU ARE ON PROBATION, OR HAVE BEEN SUSPENDED FOR NOT ATTENDING TWO YEARS IN A ROW, YOUR STATUS WILL BE PROMINENTLY DISPLAYED ON YOUR MEMBER PROFILE SCREEN UPON LOGGING INTO THE "MEMBER CENTER".
An additional Division Meeting will be held at the IPA Conference on October 6 at 10:55am. The meeting will be held in Peoria, IL at the Civic Center. Attendance at this session in Peoria will fulfill your annual meeting requirement.
