Match Comments: Chillicothe defeated Beecher Saturday afternoon, 25-20, 25-16 to set up a showdown of volleyball heavyweights in the 8th grade class 3A state volleyball tournament. The Mustangs will take on the Pleasant Plains Cardinals Tuesday night while Beecher will play Robinson Nuttall for third place honors. Chillicothe and Pleasant Plains are not strangers to IESA volleyball championships---the Mustangs were runnerup in 2009 and 2010 while Pleasant Plains has captured the first place trophy in 2010, 2011 and 2013. Chillicothe led throughout most of the match with Beecher as the taller Mustangs were able to control the match with their height. Casy Grove had 11 service points in the match but it was Abby Camp who led the charge in the second set as she had 9 service points and three aces in the set. Good luck to both teams on Tuesday.
