Where To Stay Cheerleading:

Many hotels/motels in the area are working with the Peoria Area Convention and Visitor's Bureau. They have established IESA rates for the weekend and should be your preferred properties. The Hotel Pere Marquette is tournament headquarters and is our No. 1 suggestion for lodging. Regardless of where you choose to stay, be sure to tell the person taking your reservation or checking you in that you are attending the IESA State Final Cheerleading event.

How To Get To the Civic Center:

The Peoria Civic Center is located in downtown Peoria. From the south, cross the Illinois River using either the I-74 Murray Baker Bridge or the Bob Michel Bridge. There is an access ramp from I-74 to the Bob Michel Bridge. If you take the I-74 Murray Baker Bridge, take the first exit past the bridge and follow the exit route to S. W. Jefferson Street. Turn left onto one-way S. W. Jefferson Street and go to Fulton Street. Turn right on Fulton Street and go to the Fulton Street Parking lot (located at the intersection of Fulton Street and S.W. Monroe Street). If you take the Bob Michel Bridge, continue going north (straight) and the street becomes William Kumpf Blvd. Go past the Civic Center on William Kumpf Blvd. to S.W. Monroe Street. Turn right on S. W. Monroe Street and the Fulton Street Lot will be on the left at the first intersection. The Peoria Civic Center is bounded by William Kumpf Blvd. (west), S. W. Monroe Street (North), Fulton Street (east) and S. W. Jefferson Street (south). S. W. Jefferson Street is a one-way street. Then other three streets are two-way streets.

Where To Park:

Use the Civic Center's Fulton Street lot, located at the intersection of Fulton St. and S. W. Monroe St., or any of the parking garages on S. W. Jefferson. The Event Parking fee for parking in a Civic Center lot is $6.00. The Event Fee in the parking garages will vary from lot to lot.

Where to Watch The Competition:

Seating in Exhibit Hall C is general admission and faces the competition floor. During the competition, no one is allowed on the concrete between the stands and the competition floor. Only cheerleaders competing in the event and their coaches are allowed to be on the concrete between the stands and the competition floor during the award ceremony.

What To Wear and What Not To Wear:

We suggest you wear clothing in school colors to support your team and to help distinguish your cheering section in the stands.

Be prepared for all types of weather.

IESA By-laws require that all fans attending an IESA state series contest wear shirts at all times they are on the site of the state final event. Shirts must be worn as designed by the manufacturer. Body paint is prohibited. This means spectators and athletes cannot have body paint concealed under their clothing and then remove clothing to display the body paint. Face painting is acceptable. Hair can be any color.

Signs and Banners:

Signs and banners are allowed by spectators to support teams competing. Glitter on signs is prohibited. Balloons are not allowed in the Civic Center.

Noisemakers:

IESA By-laws do not allow the use of noisemakers at the state final event. Examples of items that are not allowed include, but are not limited to, Cow Bells, Thunder Sticks, Milk Cartons with rocks inside, shakers, whistles, electronic sound making devices, and such. Come to the state final event ready to clap and cheer for your athletes.

Official Programs:

Printed programs, with team photographs and rosters and other information about the competing teams will be on sale the days of the state final for $5.00 each. They also may be purchased from the IESA Office following the conclusion of the state final if they are available. Price per program by mail is $7.50, which includes the cost of postage and handling.

Programs may be purchased at the IESA table in the middle of Exhibit Hall C directly in front of the judge's stand as spectators enter Exhibit Hall C.

Purchase Your Own Special Ad In The Official Program:

Parents, fans and/or the school or school booster club may purchase an advertisement in the printed program. The cost varies according to the size of the ad. Deadline for ordering an ad is Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008.

Purchase Team/Individual Photos:

Event Pro Photography is the official and only photographer authorized by IESA at state final events and provides a unique souvenir to parents, fans, coaches and school personnel. On the day of the Cheerleading Championships, Event Pro Photography staff takes an official tournament photo of each squad and individual and offers a beautiful picture plaque to anyone attending the event. The photo plaque displays the school name along with "IESA State" logos and graphics. Before each squad's event is over, the plaques will be delivered to parents and fans for a cost of $20 each. They also are offering an 8 x 10 Memory Plaque that includes a team and individual photo for $35. Event Pro Photography staff also can take photographs of individuals or groups. Once again, all photo plaques are ready to take home before the day is over or while you wait. A squad can pre-order photos from school prior to the state final event by calling Event Pro Photography, Monday-Thursday at (309) 689-0299.
