Mokena vs. Springfield Franklin
Myles Perlata of Springfield Franklin led all first half scorers with 14 points. The Falcons of Springfield jumped out to a 24-16 halftime lead. In the second half Franklin came out of the lockerroom still hot. They outscored the Meteors of Mokena 17-6 in the third Quarter. Myles Peralta added 6 more points in the second half to end the game as the leading scorer with 20 points. Franklin advances to play in the next round of the IESA state tournament Monday night.
Decatur Stephen Decatur vs. Kankakee JHS
A defensive first half for both teams left the score Kankakee 11 Stephen Decatur 8 at the half. Kankakee started the second half on a hot streak. They otscored Stephen Decatur 13-6 in the third quarter. Alonzo Williams finshed the game as the leading scorer with 17 points. The next closest scorer had 8 points. The warriors of Kankakee advance to the quarterfinals at Parkside Junior High School at 5:00pm on Monday night. They will be matching up against Springfield Franklin.
Champaign Edison vs. Cahokia Wirth
Cahokia Wirth outscored Champaign Edison 13-6 in the first quarter. 6'2'' Jarian Norris of Cahokia Wirth led all scorers in the first half with 13 points. Cahokia started the second half red hot. They outscored Edison 15-5 in the thrid quarter. Wirth's defense swarmed the Comets. Jarian Norris added 10 points to his total in the second half and left the game with several minutes to play with 23 points. The defending champions remain undefeated and advance to the quarterfinals to play Monday night at Parkside.
Marshall JHS vs. Eureka
In the first quarter of play the Hornets of Eureka Swarmed the Cubs of Marshall outscoring them 17-0. With a minute to play #35 Brandon Schrock stole the ball for a quick lay-up. Marshall got on the board in the second quarter hitting one of two free throws. Ethan Thorne of Eureka led all scorers with 11 points while sitting the bench for half of the second quarter. Marshall got on the board again in the third and fourth quarter. Eureka played their bench in the fourth quarter and Ethan Thorne ended up the leading scorer with 16 points and didn't play a minute of the 4th quarter. Eureka remains undefeated and advances to quarterfinal play on Monday night against undefeated Cahokia Wirth.
Normal Kingsley vs. Quincy
Brett Anderson hit a jump shot from the left side of the lane with 13.7 seconds left in the second quarter to give Normal Kingsley a 13-12 halftime lead. Quincy jumped on top 4-0 with 2:32 left in the first quarter on a layup by Nick Dollman. Kingsley's Anderson was fould with 0.3 left in the first quarter on a three point shot and made all three free throws to push Kingsley ahead 8-6 atthe quarter. A layup by Jarren Cosgrove for Quincy at 5:19 left in the second quarter tied the game at 8 and a steal layuop by Quincy's Steven DeLonjay gave the Comets a 10-8 lead. Free throws by Quincy's Nick Dollman (1 of 2) and Matt Burrus (1 of 2) pushed Quincy's lead to 12-8. Kingsley's Anderson fired home a trey from the left side at 1:07 to cut the deficit to 12-11 before Anderson hits his go-ahead jumped to end the quarter. Kingsley put on fullcourt pressure to start the second half and bolted from its 13-12 halftimelead to a 23-13 lead with 3:38 left in the third quarter. Kevin Bischoff led the spurt with a steal layup for a 17-13 lead at 5:27 and a driving layup and free throw for an old fashioned three-point play at the 4:04 mark and a 20-13 lead. Kingsley maintained its lead the rest of the game. Quincy cut the margin to 31-26 with 1:12 left in the fourth quarter. Then Kingsley's Brett Anderson made one free throw and Travis Mullen added 3 free throws for the final 35-26 margin. Kinglsey outscored Quincy 22-14 in the second half. The Cavaliers had three played in double figures. Kevin Bischoff led with 11, all coming in the second half. Brett Anderson and Travis Mullen each had 10. Quincy had seven players in the scoring column led by Nick Dolleman with 7. Kingsley ran its record to 21-1 and advances to the 5:00 p.m. quarterfinal game Monday at Kingsley Junior High. Quincy bowed out at 17-5.
Bellwood Roosevelt vs. Dwight
Bellwood Roosevelt broke from a 5-5 tie with 3:35 left in the first quarter to outscore Dwight 19-10 in the final 9:35 of the first half. Roosevelt led 14-6 after one quarter and 24-15 at halftime. Sam Perkins and Wayne Simon each had three baskets in the first half for Roosevelt. Dwight roared back at the start of the third quarter to cut its 24-15 halftime deficit to 32-28 with 2:14 remaining in the third quarter on a left side layup by Tim Vilarreal, who poured in 14 of his game high 19 points in the second half. Then Bellwood Roosevelt's Donald Singletary and Wayne Simon took over for the winning Bulldogs. Singletary's short jumper made it 34-28 and Simon's third basket in the third quarter at :035 pushed the lead to 38-30. Roosevelt led 38-32 after three quarters. Singletary scored Roosevelt's first six poijts of the fourth quarter and Dwight's Vilarreal matched him shot for shot until Vilarreal's two free throws at the 2:30 mark pushed Dwight ahead 45-44 for the only time in the game. Singletary and Simon each scored on jump shots and a pair of free throws for an eight-point spurt that moved Roosevelt ahead 52-45 with :34.8 remaining in the game. A free throw by Tri Krasniqi and a long three-pointer from Jason Karstens in a 6-second sprt cut Dwight's deficit to 52-49 but Simon put the game away with a pair of free throws at the 0:17.1 mark. Singletary scored 11 points for the Bulldogs, Sam Perkins added 10 and Simon led the team in scoring with 21, including 7 for 7 from the free throw line. Vilarreal led Dwight with 19. Bradley Gschwendtner, a rugged 6-0 seventh grader, followed with 12, including 8 in the third quarter when Dwight made its first comeback. Roosevelt advances to meet Normal Kingsley in the quarterfinals Monday at Kingsley Junior High with a 15-1 record. Dwight bowed out at 19-4.
Heyworth vs. Pekin Edison
Heyworth broke on top early in the first quarter and maintained its lead until Pekin Edison tied the score at 17-17 with 2:05 remaining in the second quarter. Heyworth went on another run outscoring Edison 9-2 in the final 1:30 of the second quarter. Heyworth led 14-7 after the first quarter. Edison cut a 17-12 deficit to a 17-17 tie by going on a 7-0 run on a rebound layup by Kain Hoeniges, a three-pointer from John McClanahan and a breakaway layup from Branden Brill. Then Heyworth got back in the groove on a right baseline jumper from center Jase Wilson, an arching trey from Andrew Schultz followed by an Edison basket,and to top off the scoring a pair of free throws from Jase Wilson and a jumper in the paint from Michael Haerr. Pekin Edison couldn't buy a bucket nor break the Heyworth pressure defense and was shutout in the third quarter until Kain Hoeniges put in a short jumper with 1:19 left in the quarter to cut Heyworth's lead to 38-21. The Hornets blasted from their 26-19 halftime lead and went on a 12-0 tear to take a 38-19 lead at the 2:30 mark in the third quarter. Jase Wilson's coast-to-coast layup at 3:58 gaveHeyworth a 31-19 lead. Tyler Gooden followed with a fast break layup on a sizzling feed pass from Zachary Schultz at 3:36 for a 33-19 margin. Gooden made a pair of free throws at 2:30 for a 35-19 lead and Andrew Schultz scored on an inbounds play from the baseline at 1:34 to make it 38-19. Wilson's jumper in the paint moved the lead to 40-21 beofre Edison got some late baskets to trail 40-25 after three quarters. Edison made a run to cut the deficit to 44-28 and Heyworth followed with three straight baskets and a free throw for a 49-28 lead with 3:51 to go in the game. Heyworth outscored Pekin Edison 25-15 in the second half. Jase Wilson led Heyworth with 18 points, 9 in the first half and 9 in the second half. He was 4 of 5 from the foul line. Tyler Gooden added 11, all in the second half, including 3 of 4 from the foul line. Andrew Schultz scored 8 for the Hornets, including a pair of treys. Eight different players scored for Pekin Edison. Kain Hoeniges led the way with 10 points. Branden Brill added 7. Heyworth advances to the quarterfinals Monday night at Kingsley Junior High's gym with a 24-0 record. Pekin Edison bowed out at 19-2.
Harvey Brooks vs. Blue Mound Meridian
Trent Swigert of Blue Mound Meridian made two of three free throws after time had expired to bring his Hawks from a 53-52 deficit to a 54-53 victory over Harvey Brooks. Swigert was fouled as he tried a desperation shot from just past mid-court as time ran out. He got the ball before he reached mid-court after his time in-bounded the ball from under the Brooks basket starting with :03.8 remaining. Brooks called a 30-second time out before Swigert went to the line. His first free throw bounced around the rim and fell through. His second free throw banged off the back of the rim no good. His third free throw swished.













Harvey Brooks went to the locker room with a 21-20 halftime lead at the end of a racehorse basketball first half with Blue Mound Meridian in a battle of two teams playing suffocating defense and looking for the break layup. Blue Mound Meridian jumped to a 6-0 lead in the first quarter before a trey from the right side by Brooks' Dennis Crisler cut the deficit to 6-5. From that point on neither team was able to get a lead or more than three points. The lead changed hands five times in the first half and was tied at 11, 15, 17 and 19 in the second quarter. Blue Mound Meridian led 8-5 after the first quarter. Raymond Hines was force under the boards for Brooks and got a pair of rebound putbacks in the second quarter, the first giving Brooks an 11-10 lead and the second breaking the 17-17 tie.













At the start of the third quarter, Harvey Brooks looked like it was going to blow open the game. The Warriors roared from a 21-20 halftime lead to a 26-20 margin. A pair of baskets by Meridian's Trent Swigert baskets late in the third quarter cut his team's deficit to 31-28. Brooks' Reggie Smith got a pair of runners in the lane, teammate Berry Louie added a three-pointer from the left side and teammate Raymond Hines scored on a fast break basket to offset on Meridian basket and give Brooks a 40-30 lead after three quarters. Meridian cut the deficit to 40-35 on a Trent Swigert trey from the top of the circle at 4:52 in the 4th quarter. A basket by Blue Mound Meridian's Dalton Coventry from underneath made it 41-37 at the 4:31 mark. Jarvis Armstrong his a driving layup for Brooks and a 43-37 lead. Coventry hit a pair of free throws at 4:06 to make it 43-39. Brooks' Jarvis Armstrong canned two free throws for a 45-39 lead and then missed a pair of free throws at the 3:39 mark. Trent Swigert came back with a trey for Blue Mound Meridian to make it 45-42. Raymond Hines scored from underneath at 2:49 to give Brooks a 47-42 lead and he followed shortly thereafter with a rebound layup for a 49-42 lead. Blue Mound meridian cut the deficit to 49-44 and Brooks' Berry Louie countered with a flying jumper in the lane at 2:05 left for a 51-44 lead. Then Logan Ashburn canned a trey for Meridian at 1:54, Brooks turned the ball over against the Hawks' press and Andrew Behner scored for Meridian from the left side underneath on a put back layup to make it 51-49 in favor of Brooks. Brooks went ahead 53-49 and with 0:42.1 Trent Swigert made 1 of 2 free throws to make it 53-50. Dalton Coventry scored a layup for Meridian when he caught Logan Ashburn's leaping save of the ball as it was going out under the Meridian basket to make it 53-52. Brooks had two shots and missed both before the ball went out and over to Meridian with :03.8 seconds remaining to set up the final moments of the game. Brooks ended its season at 17-2. Blue Mound Meridian advances to the quarterfinals at Kingsley Junior High in Normal on Monday night with a 21-3 record. Reggin Smith scored 12 points for Brooks and Raymond Hines led the Warriors with 19. Hines scored 12 of his 19 in the second quarter. Logan Ashburn pumped in 17 for Blue Mound Meridian, including a pair of three-point field goals. Trent Swigert added 18 for the Hawks, also with a pair of treys. Dalton Coventry added 15 for the Hawks and was 5 for 14 from the foul line. Trent Swigert was 4 of 7 from the foul line, including 3 of 6 in the fourth quarter.
Springfield Franklin vs. Kankakee JHS
The Falcons of Springfield Franklin started off with a blistering first half scoring 21 points and holding the Warriors of Kankakee JHS to 11 points. Leading scorers for the Falcons were Troy Klunick with 12 points, Marcus Brumfield with 10 points, and Blayne Burnett with 9 points. All of Burnett's points came from 3 point baskets. Kankakee was lead by Runder Smith with 10 points and Alonzo Williams with 8 points. The Falcons advance to the Semifinals with a record of 20-3.
Cahokia Wirth vs. Eureka
The Warriors of Cahokia Wirth played a balanced offensive and defensive game in their win over the Hornets of Eureka. The Warriors scored 21 points in the first half and an incredible 21 points in the fourth quarter. Jarian Norris led the Warriors with 19 points. Cahokia Wirth also received contributions from Roderick Taylor with 10 points and Donald Collier with 9 points. Ethan Thorne led the Hornets with 19 points. Also contributing for Eureka were Kyle Fellner and Tyler Facker both with 4 points. Cahokia Wirth advances to the Semifinals with a record of 13-0.
Normal Kingsley vs. Bellwood Roosevelt
Bellwood Roosevelt outscored Normal Kingsley 8-4 in the first quarter. After a quarter talk from the coach Normal Kingsley came firing back in the second quarter to outscore the Bulldogs 13-5. Kevin Bishoff of Kingsley and Wayne Simon of Roosevelt were the leading scorers of the half with 6 points a piece. In the 3rd quarter Wayne Simon gave the Bulldogs the spark they needed. With three minutes to play Wayne hit a three and then a two point basket to give Roosevelt a lead. Kingsley was quiet in the third only scoring 2 points. In the fourth quarter Kingsley closed the lead to one point several times but Roosevelt never gave up the lead. With 12 seconds to go on the clock Kingsley inbounded the ball and got a look at a three point basket to tie the ball game, but the ball bounced off the front of the rim. Bellwood Roosevelt advances to the semifinals on Tuesday night with a record of 16-1.
Heyworth vs. Blue Mound Meridian
Both teams came out playing tough defense in the first quarter. Heyworth started to find its groove a bit in the second quarter and outscored the Hawks of Blue Mound 13-8. Spencer Campbell of Heyworth hit two 3-point baskets and Jase Wilson led all scorers with 12 points. Meridian had two players with five points a piece. Both teams started the second half fired up. In the fourth quarter Blue Mound made their charge with back to back three point baskets. #25 Trent Swigert hit a fade away three point basket and on the next possession Cory Burns added his trey. With 3:30 to play in the fourth quarter Blue Mound had outscored the Hornets 8-1 and cut Heyworth's lead to 3 points. But this was as close as it got. Heyworth picked up their game and started to pull away. Jase Wilson of Heyworth was the game high scoring leader with 20 points. Heyworth remains undefeated and advances to the semifinals with a record of 25-0. The Hornets will face Bellwood Roosevelt tomorrow night.
Springfield Franklin vs. Cahokia Wirth
Defending champion Cahokia Wirth, with 6-3 7th grader Jarian Norris dominating in the paint, spotted Springfield Franklin a 2-0 lead in the first quarter and went on to a 24-10 halftime lead. Norris scored on back to back short jumpers from underneath mid-way through the first quarter to give Wirth a 9-2 lead at the 1:23 mark. Springfield Franklin got a layup from Titus Hughes at the 1:10 mark and a short jumper from Myles Peralta as time was running out in the first quarter to trail 9-6 after the first 6 minutes. In the second quarter, Wirth's defense swarmed the Franklin shooters and ball handlers and did not give up a field goal. Franklin scored all four of its second quarter points on free throws. Norris' jumper from underneath gave Wirth a 17-9 lead and Donald Collier's three-pointer from the right side at 2:10 in the second quarter made the margin 20-9. Norris hit a rebound layup for the 24-10 halftime margin. Norris had three blocked shots in the first half, all in the first quarter, and that pushed the Franklin shooters away from the basket in the second quarter. Troy Klunick fired in a pair of three-pointers early in the third quarter for Springfield Franklin and the Falcons cut their deficit to 24-16. Cahokia Wirth then went into the ''grind it out'' mode and maintained its double digit margin the rest of the way. Wirth's tower in the middle, 6-3 seventh grader Jarian Norris, left the game mid-way through the third quarter and did not return until early in the fourth quarter. Franklin couldn't dent the Wirth pressure defense and went the last five plus minutes in the fourth quarter without a basket. Troy Klunick made nine free throws in the final period to keep Franklin in the scoring column. Klunick led Franklin with 14 points. Myles Peralta added 6. Roderick Taylor led Wirth with 15 points. Jarian Norris had 14. Both of them made six field goals. Norris had two blocks in the second half and ended the game with 5. Cahokia Wirth advances to Thursday's championship game with a 15-0 record. Springfield Franklin will play for third place in the 6:00 p.m. game Thursday and will take a 20-4 record into the game.
Bellwood Roosevelt vs. Heyworth
Zachary Schultz fired in a push shot from the left side of the lane with 44 seconds left in the game and that held up for Heyworth's 44-42 win over Bellwood Roosevelt in a game that went back and forth the entire second half. Roosevelt went on a 7-2 run at the start of the third quarter to move ahead 27-24 with 4:16 remaining in the 3rd period. Heyworth's Jase Wilson cut the deficit to 27-26. Roosevelt's Wayne Simon countered with a baseline jumper and another jumper in the lane for a 31-26 Roosevelt lead at 3:25. Wilson's jumper and two free throws from Tyler Gooden pulled Heyworth within 31-30. Wilson's layup with 37 second left in the third quarter tied it at 35-35 heading into the final quarter. Wilson's two free throws tied the game at 37-37 with 5:23 to go and his driving layup at 4:34 pushed Heyworth ahead 39-37. Wayne Simon tied it for Roosevelt and Donald Singletary followed for Roosevelt with a jumper in the paint and a 41-39 lead at 4:01. Wilson missed a pair of free throws at 3:20 but Spencer Campbell canned a three-pointer from the top of the circle at the 2:34 mark for a 42-41 Heyworth lead. A free throw from Roosevelt's Sam Perkins tied it at 42-42 with 2:09 to play. Heyworth ran clock and ran a play to get the ball into the hands of Zachary Schultz for his eventual game-winning basket. Roosevelt came down following Schultz's basket and between 0:26 and 0:13 missed three close-in shots. Spencer Campbell was fouled with 0:12 left but the Heyworth point guard missed the front end of a 1 and 1 free throw situation. Roosevelt got the rebound and Darvis PridGeon's short shot in the lane missed with 0:01 showing. Heyworth got the ball in to kill the clock and end the game. Jase Wilson led Heyworth with 21 points, Spencer Campbell added 11 and Tyler Gooden scored 10 for Heyworth. Wayne Simon led Roosevelt with 19, pouring in 11 in the third quarter. Donald Singletary added 10 for the Bulldogs. Roosevelt (16-2) will meet Springfield Franklin (20-4) for third place Thursday night at 6:00. Unbeaten Heyworth (26-0) battles unbeaten Cahokia Wirth (15-0) for the title. Fans planning to attend Thursday's games are urged to get to Kingsley Junior High early. Illinois State University's mens basketball team plays a home game Thursday night also. The parking lots at Kingsley are right across the street from Redbird Arena.













Wayne Simon hit a layup with 4:50 left in the first quarter to give Belwood Roosevelt a 6-0 lead, then Heyworth got Jase Wilson into the game and his driving layup made it 6-4 at the 3:46 mark. A pair of rebound baskets by Roosevelt's Sam Perkins put the Bulldogs ahead 10-5. Then Heyworth's Spencer Campbell canned a three-pointer and Tyler Gooden followed with a layup at the 1:38 mark to tie the game at 10-10. The score was tied again at 12 and Tyler Gooden scored on an inbounds play as the first quarter ended to tie the game at 14. Heyworth scored the first eight points of the second quarter to spurt to a 22-14 lead. Jase Wilson hit a jumper at the 4:59 mark for a 16-14 lead and with 4:11 left a technical foul was called on the Roosevelt bench. Spencer Campbell made both free throws and, after taking the ball out following the free throws Jase Wilson drove the lane for a layup and a 20-14 Heyworth lead. Wilson's break layup upped the lead to 22-14 with 3:22 to go. Roosevelt came roaring back with a pair of free throws from Donald Singletary at 2:04, a Wayne Simon steal layup at 1:02 to make it 22-18 and a layup by Marcell Becton with :03 left cut the Roosevelt deficit to 22-20 at halftime.
Springfield Franklin vs. Bellwood Roosevelt
Springfield Franklin's Blayne Burnett hit a pair of free throws with 11 seconds left in the game to clinch his team's 50-48 win over Bellwood Roosevelt.






Donald Singletary drove the lane and scored the final basket for Roosevelt with 0:04 left and Franklin let time run out without trying to inbound the ball. Franklin went ahead 48-42 with 2:07 left in the game on a free throw from Troy Klunick. Roosevelt roared back with back-to-back muscle layups from rugged Sam Perkins, the last coming with 0:58 left, to cut the Franklin lead to 48-46. Franklin then ran the clock and played keep away as Roosevelt was forced to foul four times before Franklin had to go to the free throw line in the bonus situation. The Falcons ran the clock from 0:58 to 0:11 when Burnett made the game winning free throws. In a wild third quarter, Franklin scored the last eight points to erase a 37-35 deficit and take a 43-37 lead into the final quarter. Myles Peralta tied it at 37-37 with a runner in the lane, Blayne Burnett followed with a running hook shot over Perkins and then came right back with a fast break layup at 0:28 for a 41-37 lead. Troy Klunick hit two free throws for Franklin at 0:05 for the 6-point lead after three quarters.






Donald Singletary led all scorers with 20 for Roosevelt. Teammate Wayne Simon added 15. Three Falcons were in double figures. Zane Thompson led with 11 with Troy Klunick and Myles Peralta adding 10 each. Franklin finished its season with a 21-4 record. Roosevelt finished at 16-3.













The lead changed hands six times in the first half with Springfield Franklin taking a 14-11 lead after the first quarter and a 26-23 margin at halftime. Donald Singletary and Wayne Simon led Bellwood Roosevelt's spurt to start the second quarter when the Bulldogs took a 16-14 lead and then got the margin up to 20-16 with 3:20 left. Singletary's two free throws cut the Roosevelt deficit to 14-13 and then his three-pointer from the left corner at 4:30 boosted the Bulldogs to a 16-14 lead. A rebound layup from Franklin's Blayne Burnett tied the score at 16-16. Then Simon popped in back-to-back jumpers in the lane for the 20-16 Bulldog lead. Franklin's Zane Thompson countered with back-to-back three-pointers, the second coming at the 2:38 mark that gave Franklin a 22-20 lead. Simon canned one from the top of the circle for a 23-24 Roosevelt lead. Myles Peralta hit a jumper for Franklin and a 24-23 lead and Blayne Burnett's driving layup made it 26-23 at halftime.
Cahokia Wirth vs. Heyworth
Cahokia Wirth won its second straight Class 7AA title, rolling past Heyworth 59-34. With three players scoring in double figures, Wirth finished unbeaten at 16-0 and was the only team to beat Heyworth this season. Heyworth, the smallest school in the State Tournament field of 16 teams with a 7-8 grade enrollment of 137, finished 26-1. Cahokia Wirth's 7-8 grade enrollment is 809. Powerful Wirth 6-3 center Jarian Norris led the Warriors in scoring with 19 points. He ended as the tournament's leading scorer with 75 in four games. Joining him in double figures were teammates Donald Collier with 12 and Roderick Taylor with 14. Jase Wilson was the lone Heyworth player in double figures with 13. Wilson finished the tournament with a four-game total of 72 points. The Hornets' Spencer Campbell scored 9, all in the third quarter when Heyworth made a brief charge at Wirth. Spencer Campbell hit a pair of free throws at 2:31 in the third quarter to cut the deficit to 32-21. The Hornets got the ball back on a steal but Jase Wilson missed from point blank range and Wirth immediately countered with a jumper from tiny point guard Khyrr Beckley. A basket by Heyworth's Wilson cut the Hornet deficit to 34-23. A Jarian Norris layup over Heyworth defender Zachary Schultz made it 36-23 and Norris, who was fouled on the play, canned the free throw. Heyworth's last charge followed. Spencer Campbell made a pair of free throws at the 1:36 mark and Jase Wilson scored on a driving layup, was fouled on the play, and made the free throw to make it a 37-28 Wirth lead. In the fourth quarter, Wilson scored over Norris to cut the Wirth lead to 43-32. The state champions then went on a tear and outscored the Hornets 16-2 over the final 5:04 of the final quarter.













Cahokia Wirth rocketed out to an 8-0 lead with 3:44 remaining in the first quarter and stunned a huge Heyworth crowd that nearly filled the whole south side of the Kingsley Junior High gym. Wirth's swarming defense cut off the Heyworth passing lanes, and the Warriors' 6-3 postman Jarian Norris was intimidating in the middle. Donald Collier scored a pair of baskets in the first quarter and his jumper from the right baseline with 2:28 to go in the quarter made it 12-2. Jase Wilson got Heyworth's first basket of the game at 3:33 in the first quarter. Wirth led 14-4 after the first 6 minutes. In the second quarter, Donald Collier and Jarian Norris kept up the pressure as the Warriors outscored Heyworth 12-7. Collier got three baskets and Norris a pair. Wirth led 16-8 after Heyworth's Tyler Gooden scored from underneath on the left side. Wirth missed a shot and on the return trip down court Heyworth's Andrew Schultz was fouled on a three-point try. He missed all three free throws and Collier roared past his defender from the right baseline for a layup and 18-8 Wirth lead. The Warriors then scored 8 of the last 11 points of the quarter for their 15-point halftime lead.
