IESA Art Workshops -- General Information

Annual Art Workshops

Workshops are held annually by the IESA at Illinois State University and Eastern Illinois University. Startung in 2010, a workshop will also be held at Manteno High School. These workshops are conducted in the spring of each school year. The workshops are designed to give students the chance to expand on their creative processes by exposing them to new and interesting media, tools, and materials they would normally not encounter in the classroom. This is not a competition, but an opportunity for participation.

Art instructors are encouraged to bring their students to this annual event. Art education majors from the participating universities will instruct students at ISU and EIU. At the Manteno site, high school art teachers will conduct the workshop. Students are given the opportunity to choose their area of participation. A variety of activities are offered at each workshop. Instruction and participation generally last four to five hours. Materials are provided for all activities. Students will not only be able to take home their projects, but they will also receive a participation ribbon from the IESA.

Those instructors who bring their students to this event are encouraged to observe any and all of the offered activities.

The art workshops are available to all IESA member schools. Those students eligible to participate must currently be in grades 5-8.
