For her leadership and her achievements in academics and interscholastic activities, Madison Harvey has been selected as the Scholar Attitude Award winner for Board of Directors Division A.

A top student named to the Honor Roll, Madison participates in track and field, volleyball, softball, Drama Club, Key Club and Student Council, of which she was elected president this year. In fact, she says being elected Student Council President is the feat of which she's most proud. "Student Council President is nominated by teachers, and it was an honor to be chosen to take on the responsibilities of being president," Madison says. "I get to be a large part of most decisions in Student Council, along with being a leader to the rest of the school."

In addition to the sense of belonging and the ability to make new friends, interscholastic activities helped Madison get through a recent situation with her health. Last fall, Madison sadly experienced worsening health problems. "It was hard for me to make it through the day sometimes, and it has definitely made me tougher," she says. "Interscholastic activities helped me to develop a focus and set goals for myself throughout the day or week. They gave me something to look forward to after school or at some point during the school day."

Madison loves to write, and says she wrote plays for her friends to perform when she was little. After she began playing sports, she wrote columns summarizing her recent games for friends and family. She plans to continue pursuing these interests by majoring in broadcast journalism in college.
