For his commitment to his responsibilities in academics and interscholastic activities, Drew Bowman has been selected for the Scholar Attitude Award for Board of Directors Division I.

With a 4.0 GPA, Drew has been named to academic high honor roll each quarter of his junior high years. This is his proudest accomplishment, he says. "I have been able to do this even though I have participated in several sports and activities," he says. Some of those include cross country, basketball, track and field, and Scholastic Bowl. Drew also spends time supporting this five siblings and their activities. "Many nights we don't get home until 9 p.m. and I still have homework to do," Drew says. "This has taught me that I have to be more disciplined in homework like I am in basketball."

Participation in interscholastic activities has helped Drew value both teamwork and leadership. "The members of a team, whether it be a Scholastic Bowl team or a basketball team, have to know their roles and do them well for the team to succeed," Drew observes. "I have also learned that being a leader does not necessarily have to be the best player on the team," he says, noting someone who is quiet and works hard leads by example.

Drew likes technology and math, so he plans to explore engineering or computer science as possible majors in college.
