Holly McDowell

La Harpe

Holly McDowell

Principal:

Holly McDowell of La Harpe is busy with sports, music, and academics. Basketball, volleyball, track, softball, student council, chorus and band account for most of her junior high history.

It is her participation in volleyball of which she is most proud because she had the honor of playing in the IESA Eighth Grade Class 2A State Championship game.

Sen. John McCain gets a lot of admiration from this young woman, who says she's inspired by his history as a prisoner of war. She also talks politics when considering the one thing in the world she'd like to change. Holly says too much money is spent on presidential campaigning. She says so much of that money is wasted when it could help feed the hungry, support medical research, or pay for college for so many people.

Holly wants to help others in her own way attending Southern Illinois University to become a nurse following in the footsteps of several of her family members.
