Game Comments: Pleasant Plains won a thriller Saturday night by defeating previously unbeaten Teutopolis 30-27 to advance to the championship game Thursday night against St. Joseph. This was easily the best game of the day and it was a rematch of last year's 7th grade semi final game which T-Town won 27-18 as they went on to win the 2014 7th grade title. The Cardinals jumped out to an early 15-7 lead but T-Town stayed within their offense to outscore Plains 8-1 in the second quarter and only trailed by one at the half, 16-15. The second half was close throughout but T-Town held the lead at 23-19 with just 2 seconds left in the 3rd quarter. After a Plains timeout to set up a quarter ending shot, Caroline Jachino nailed a 20 footer from the left wing to bring the Cardinals to within one, 23-22. MacKenzie Houser scored a conventional three point play to open the 4th quarter for the Cardinals and another free throw gave Plains seven consecutive points and a 26-23 lead. Karsyn Mette scored on a layup for T-Town to cut the Cardinals lead to one at 26-25. Solid free throw shooting in the closing seconds gave Plains a 30-27 lead with just four seconds left. After a T-Town time out to set up a potential game tying 3 point shot, Olivia Niemerg got a great look but her shot was just barely off the mark to seal the victory for Pleasant Plains. T-Town will play in the 3rd place game at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 17. Congratulations to both teams
