| Game Comments: The first game of the day in the Class 3A 8th grade finals was a matchup between the Panthers of St. Joseph and the Hornets of Lockport Kelvin Grove. These two met in the quarterfinals of the 7th grade tournament last year and similar to last year, the Panthers were victorious. The final score of the game was 33-24 but the game was close throughout. St Joseph used just enough defensive pressure to cause some turnover problems for the Hornets as they held a 10-7 lead after one quarter and led 21-15 at the half. The teams were evenly matched in the second half but the Panthers were able to stay ahead for the entire game. St. Joseph (24-1) will now play in the first semifinal contest of the day at 5:00 p.m. later today. Kelvin Grove closes out their season with a 20-5 record. Congratulations to both teams. |
