Game Comments: The 8-2A championship game was a rematch of the 2014 7-2A championship between the Indians of Lewistown Central and the Mustangs of Colfax Ridgeview. The Ridgeview Mustangs won this close battle last year.
Colfax was first on the scoreboard with a nice little shot in the lane and the following possession a three from the top of the key. With four minutes to play in the quarter, Central put a nice drive to the basket and on the following possession drained a jumper from the free throw line. The two teams continued to battle it out in the quarter and Central took a 2 point lead at the end of the quarter. Central continues to run the court well seeing the open player under the basket for an easy lay-up. They held the Mustangs to 3 points in the 2nd quarter and took an 11point lead into the lockerroom at the half.
The Indians continued their intensity in the 2nd half of play holding Ridgeview to four points in the quarter until the closing seconds when the Mustangs drained a three. The final quarter saw Central slow things down on the offensive side to kill some time off the clock. The Mustangs continued their pressure and were able to get some point off their steals, but the deficit was too much to overcome.
Leading scorer for the game was #14 Sydney Shaeffer for Central with 17 points. Congratulations to both teams on a great season and a great game. This is Coach Conway and the Indians first 8-2A state title.
