Game Comments: In the third place match-up, the Storm of Illiopolis Sangamon Valley battled the Eagles of Bismarck-Henning. After several turnovers by both teams, Bismarck-Henning was first on the scoreboard. Illiopolis finally broke their scoring drought with 1:38 to play. The Eagles ran their full court offense well, but Illiopolis was able to stay close in the quarter. The Eagles ran half the quarter off the clock to start by running the ball around the horn for about three minutes of play. In the last three minutes of the quarter we saw a little scoring frenzy. Both teams saw several points off turnovers, but Bismarck was able to increase their lead into the half 17-10.
In the second half of play the Storm press caused the Eagles some troubles bringing the ball up the court. The Storm was unable to take advantage of this pressure and turnovers though and the Eagles increased their lead in the quarter. The Storm never lost their intensity throughout the entire game and cut the lead to four early in the final quarter of play with four minutes to play. Leading scorer for the game #10 Emily Meidel took the Eagles offense in her own hands and brought the game back to 10 point difference with less than a minute to play and an overall victory for the Eagles.
Congratulations to both teams on a great season.
