Game Comments: Today's second quarterfinal game featured the Morris Saratoga Hawks, the Teutopolis Wooden Shoes and a strong student section presence for both schools. Teutopolis kicked off scoring with a 2-point field goal; a turnover from each team put Teutopolis in possession and #12 Kylie Hoelscher was fouled on a successful 2-pointer. Saratoga responded with #4 Kennedy Dransfeldt making a free throw after being fouled on a successful layup to bring the score to 4-3, Teutopolis in the lead. Saratoga tied the score at 5-5 with 1:17 remaining in the quarter. Teutopolis' #12 Kylie Hoelscher put her team ahead with a layup with less than a minute left in the 1st period; the period ended with 2 free throws made by Saratoga's #3 Reagan Shea and a score of 7-7. The 2nd quarter picked up right where the teams left off - Teutopolis took an 8-0 scoring lead bringing the score to 15-7 with 2:16 left in the first half. The first half finished with Teutopolis leading 15-10.

Saratoga's #11 Karrina Riley erupted the Saratoga student section with her 2-point jump shot, thus ending the Wooden Shoes' 2nd quarter scoring run. Saratoga's Kennedy Dransfeldt (#4) brought scoring to a finish with a successful free throw and the first half ended with Teutopolis in the lead, 15-10. Teutopolis jumped to a 20-13 lead in the 3rd quarter but Saratoga's #3 Reagan Shea closed the gap with a steal and a layup 3 minutes into the period. With 1 minute left, Teutopolis' #3 Carly Michels scored 2 points and brought the Wooden Shoes' lead to 7 points with a score of 22-15. With 3:45 left in the game, defensive pressure kept both teams from scoring until 2 points from Teutopolis gave them the lead, 24-15. A technical foul was called on Saratoga with 41 seconds remaining in the game - Teutopolis brought the score to 27-15.

Congratulations to the Morris Saratoga Hawks with a season record of 22-2; best of luck to the Teutopolis Wooden Shoes who will be playing in the first semifinal game tonight at 5:00 pm.
