The scores were added together and any technical deductions were subtracted from the subtotal to give the final team score. Beginning with the 2017 IESA Cheer state competition, final team scores are calculated as follows - each squad receives a score from each of the panel judges, the scores are added together and an average is calculated. Then, technical deductions are subtracted from the average score to calculate the final team score.
