Game Comments: The second semifinal game was a nailbiter throughout but in the end, Decatur Robertson held on for a 50-49 victory over the Madison Spartans. Robertson will be looking to win both the 7th and 8th grade championships when they take on Elmwood Thursday night in the title tilt. Madison will play for 3rd place when they meet Peoria St. Vincent dePaul. With 2:11 left in the game Robertson held a 47-42 lead. A rebound basket for the Spartans cut the lead to 3 at 47-44. Robertson brought the ball down the court but missed their attempt and Madison grabbed the rebound. The Spartans called timeout with 1:10 left in the game. Both teams turned the ball over and Robertson had the ball and a three point lead with 40 seconds left. Markeith Reynolds, who led all scorers with 26 points, then stole the ball for the Spartans and drove in for a layup to cut the lead to one with 32 seconds left. Stephon Bobbitt was fouled for Robertson and he stepped to the lane and made both ends of a one and bonus to give the Wild Cats the lead 49-46 with 22 ticks left on the clock. Reynolds brought the ball down the court for the Spartans and launched a high arching 3 pointer from 25 ft. that swished through the nets to tie the game at 49 all with about 15 seconds left in the game. Robertson inbounded the ball after the made basket and as they were bringing the ball up the court, Stefon Jarrett, who led Robertson in scoring with 14 points was fouled as he dribbled up the sideline. He went to the line for a one and bonus. Jerrett made the first but missed the second to give Robertson the lead 50-49. Madison grabbed the rebound after the missed free throw, brought the ball down the court and called time out to set up a potential game winning play with :4.3 remaining. On the inbounds pass, Madison lost control, Robertson gained possession and sealed the victory as time expired. It was a great game by both teams. Congratulations to both teams and good luck on Thursday evening.
