Cadence Crull

Principal: Mr. Larry Maynard

For her exceptional academic performance and leadership in interscholastic activities, Cadence Crull is presented with the Scholar Attitude Award for Board of Directors Division K.

Cadence has maintained a 4.0 grade point average while participating in basketball, volleyball, Scholastic Bowl, speech, and chorus. Her education is very important to Cadence; she cites the fact she has obtained high honors throughout middle school and junior high as the feat of which she is most proud. Cadence believes so strongly in the importance of education that if she could make one change in the world, she would make elementary and grade school education free for everyone. “Everyone should be able to have an education, whether rich or poor,” she says.

Through her participation in interscholastic activities, Cadence has learned the value of teamwork and sportsmanship. “I’ve learned to get along with people who beat me,” she says. “These skills will be important for my future development as a person.” In fact, Cadence believes sportsmanship is important far beyond the playing field or court. “Sportsmanship is not just found in sports,” she says. “It’s found in a classroom, your job, or in anything with competition. Sportsmanship correlates with teamwork.”

Sports and other activities helped Cadence get through a difficult time in junior high. “I started to isolate myself and didn’t want to face the change that was happening,” she says. “Sports and other activities made me get back into the school and helped me fight through the change that happened. I’m much happier thanks to my participation.”

After high school graduation Cadence hopes to receive an academic scholarship to attend college. She’s interested in the fields of criminology, finance, and criminal law.
