Bethany Bergschneider

Principal: Mr. Jason Courier

Bethany Bergschneider is a strong student, a natural leader, and a hardworking athlete. Much to the credit of her positive attitude while participating in various interscholastic activities, she was selected as the Scholar Attitude Award winner for Board of Directors Division M.

In addition to being a 4.0-student throughout junior high school, Bethany is a consistent letter winner in cross country, and a two-time Most Valuable Player in the sport. She also participates in volleyball, scholastic bowl, track, and music.

Bethany has fond memories of her time in interscholastic activities at Franklin Junior High School, and she has learned countless, ongoing skills from them. She notes, "I have learned mental toughness from cross country and track, and confidence and staying calm from volleyball. I have also benefitted from learning balance, the value of hard work, and having fun."

Interscholastic activities have also helped Bethany experience acceptance in social situations. Prior to junior high, Bethany was convinced she would be labeled as the "class nerd." But upon joining sports and getting involved in various clubs, she found a new sense of confidence. "At cross country practice, I never feel awkward," she says. "I feel comfortable, I'm a leader, and I feel like I'm me."

Similarly, Bethany's most proud moment thus far is qualifying for the cross country state meet three years in a row. She also considers those experiences her best memories of junior high.

After high school, Bethany hopes to attend college and major in genetics. She aspires to become a hospital geneticist to help families with evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of genetic conditions.
