1st Ever IESA Golf Tournament to be Held September 10

Students from Illinois Elementary School Association (IESA) member schools will compete in the first ever Golf State Tournament at St. Andrews Golf & Country Club in West Chicago on September 10. There will be 146 students who will make the trip to compete in the event this weekend. A complete list of participating schools can be found on the IESA Web site at http://www.iesa.org/activities/participants.asp?activitycode=GO

St. Andrews Golf & Country Club is comprised of two separate golf courses. The boys will compete on the St. Andrews #1 course. The girls will compete on the Joe Jemsek (Lakewood) #2 course. St. Andrews has been one of the premier golf facilities in the Chicago area since 1926. They are the host to many junior golf tournaments year in and year out.

The tournament will consist of a girls and boys division. All participants will compete in one 18 hole round of golf. The awards ceremony will take place after the last golfers have completed their round. Individual awards will be given during the ceremony. If there are no weather delays, the awards ceremony should be completed by 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.

The first tee time on Saturday is scheduled to begin at 9:24 a.m. for the boys and 11:00 a.m. for the girls. The complete tournament schedule can be found at http://www.iesa.org/activities/go/times.asp?Year=2011

Complete tournament information can be found at www.iesa.org. Click on the Golf link at the top of the IESA Web site home page. Also, the IESA Fanzone available on the IESA home page can provide additional information.

This is the 3rd new activity the IESA has added in the last two years. During the 2010-11 school year, the Association started a chess activity and added a bowling state tournament.

There will be no admission or parking charge at the tournament.

Should weather become a factor, the IESA Web site will contain up-to-date information regarding the tournament playing schedule. Go to www.iesa.org for any changes to the schedule and for final results which will be posted at the conclusion of the awards ceremony.
