IESA Class AA State Track & Field Meet Results

Class AA Track & Field

The 2011 IESA Class AA State Track & Field Meet concluded on Saturday with several meet records set as well as a couple of all-time records that were established. Complete team and individual results are available on the IESA website: www.iesa.org

Here is a brief synopsis of the team results and records set in each class:

Girls Class 7AA
First Place E. St. Louis Younge 41 points
Runner-up Rochester 40.5 points
Third Place Normal Kingsley 31 points
Fourth Place Cahokia Wirth 28 points

Class records were set in the following events:

**Maeve Tuley of Wadsworth Millburn went 9'6.25" in the pole vault to set the 7AA girls class record. The old mark was 9'6" set last year by Morgan Zacharias of Braidwood Reed Custer.

**Meagan McNicholas of Rochester ran 5:12.58 in the 1600 meter run to break the 7AA girls class record of 5:12.67 set in 2003 by Amber Stack of Prospect Hts. MacArthur.

**McNicholas also set the 7AA girls record in the 800 meter run by knocking almost a full two seconds off the record. She ran a 2:18.75 beating the record of 2:20.74 set by Liz Phillips from Homer Glen Homer in 2003.

Boys Class 7AA
First Place Cahokia Wirth 64 points
Runner-up E. St. Louis Lincoln 52 points
Third Place Down Tri-Valley 26 points
Fourth Place Normal Kingsley 24 points

An all-time record was set in the following event:

**An all-time record in the pole vault was set by Adam Coulon of Downs Tri-Valley. Coulon soared 13'2" in setting the all-time record breaking the old mark of 13'1" set by Brandon Tolliver of Newton Jasper County in 2010.

A class record was set in the following event:

**In the 4 x 400 meter relay, Cahokia Wirth ran 3:45.08 to set the new 7AA boys record. The old record was set by East St. Louis Younge in 2005 at 3:47.18.

Girls Class 8AA
First Place Antioch 35 points
Runner-up Normal Parkside 32 points
Third Place Gurnee Viking 22 points
Fourth Place Chatham Glenwood 21 points
Fourth Place Kankakee JHS 21 points

Class records were set in the following events:

**Meredith Mimi Smith of Wilmette JHS ran a 5:05.26 in the 1600 meter run to set the new 8AA girls class record breaking the old record of 5:07.84 set by Ruth Kipping of Quincy in 1994.

**Two individuals now hold the 8AA girls pole vault event record. Mackenzie Gallagher of Normal Parkside and Morgan Zacharias of Braidwood Reed-Custer each cleared 10'6" and are now co-holders of the record. Gallagher won 1st place in the event based on tie breaking procedures.

Boys Class 8AA
First Place E. St. Louis Younge 38 points
Runner-up Williamsville 36 points
Third Place E. St. Louis Lincoln 35 points
Fourth Place Cahokia Wirth 25 points

All-Time Records were set in the following events:

**Natereace Strong of East St. Louis Younge broke his own all-time record in the 200 meter dash with a :22.29 in the event. Strong went :22.46 last year as a 7th grader when he set the all-time record.

**Brett Neelly of East Peoria Central set an all-time record in the discus with a mammoth throw of 184' 1". The old record was set in 1996 by Joe South of Blue Mound Meridian with a throw of 183'6"
