Required IESA Annual Meetings Scheduled October 15-November 13

The series of mandatory Annual Meetings for representatives from all Illinois Elementary School Association (IESA) schools will be conducted between October 15 and November 13, 2007. Meetings will be held at 21 sites during the 30-day time period. This is the second year that the meetings have been held.

The IESA Constitution requires that the Association conduct the annual meetings. Attendance at these meetings is mandatory for each member school that enters one or more IESA activities. Feeder schools (generally K-5, K-6 of 5-6 buildings which feed the junior high school) that do not enter any IESA activities are not required to attend the meetings. A feeder school that enters an IESA activity (usually speech or music) must attend the annual meeting.

There will be at least one meeting in each of the 15 IESA geographic Board of Directors divisions. In addition, the first meeting of the series will be conducted in conjunction with the annual Illinois Principals Association Fall Conference Oct. 15 at the Peoria Civic Center. Time of the IPA meeting is 10:55 a.m. Personnel from the member schools may attend any of the 21 meetings. The starting time varies by site. The complete listing of sites can be found on the IESA Website at www.iesa.org.

Each member school is responsible to be represented each year at the Annual Meetings. Principals are encouraged to be the representative for their school, but may assign another staff member to attend. Persons attending the meetings are required to complete an attendance card. If a school is not represented at an annual meeting the school is placed on probation the first year of noncompliance. If a member school does not comply the second year, the school is prohibited from participating in any IESA state series after January 1.

After last year's first series of meetings, 49 member schools are on probation.
