Eight of the 16 teams competing in the 2006 IESA Class 7AA State Basketball Tournament beginning Saturday in Normal come into the event with at least 20 wins. This year's tournament is the last under the 16-team, four-day, two-class tournament format.

Competition in the 22nd annual 7AA State Tournament gets under way at 11:00 a.m. Saturday (Feb. 4) with four games at each of two sites in Normal. Four games will be played at Normal Kingsley Junior High School beginning at 11:00 a.m. Four other games will be at Normal Parkside Junior High School beginning at 11:00 a.m. Two quarterfinal games will be played Monday (Feb. 6) beginning at 5:00 p.m. at the same two schools.
