Match Comments: Mt. Pulaski faced Peoria Limestone Walters in the final match of the night. The Honeybears took an early lead in the first set on the serving of #2 Olivia Knoedler and the net play of #23 Skylar Hayes. The strong serving kept Limestone Walters off balance and prevented them from running their offense. #15 Laney Chiaravalle had a big block up the middle to stop the Honeybear attack and return the serve to the Rockets. #5 Avery Robinson started her service out with a big ace for the Rckets and #17 Mackenzie Catton also added a nice middle block late in the set, but the lead was too much for the Rockets to overcome in the first set. Mt. Pulaski took the early lead in the second set, but #3 Casey Perriles took over the serve and cut the lead to 1 with four consecutive service points. Mt. Pulaski took the lead again, but the Rockets would not go away and they tied it at 20 apiece on the serving of #6 Katelyn Goodwin. Mt. Pulaski took the service back on a nice kill by #23 Skylar Hayes and #2 Olivia Knoedler and she added 2 points, but a quick tip by #15 Laney Chiaravalle gave the serve back to the Rockets. Unfortunately the Rockets didn’t capitalize and #6 Abigail Fitzpatrick came in to serve the set out. #23 Skylar Hayes put the ball down the line to end the match and give Mt. Pulaski the win.
Congratulations to both teams on a hard fought match. Peoria Limestone Walters will play in the third place match on Tuesday and Mt. Pulaski will face Lovejoy in the championship match.
