Match Comments: In the first semi-final of the day, the Hawks of Blue Mound Meridian matched up against the Raiders of Peru Parkside. Both of the teams handled their net play well in the first set. Lauren Sefrried had 3 kills and Chelsea Getz had 2 kills and a block. For the Raiders, Abby Happ had 2 kills and Lauren Spelich had 2 kills. Happ also contributed to aces to the Raider offense and closed out the first set. In the second set, the Hawks struggled early under the service pressure of the Raiders. Tristan Chapman fired off 9 consecutive service points including 3 aces. It was a defensive play from Anna Herbert that turned things around for the Hawks. After her save, the Hawks came alive rattling off several aces and taking charge of the net. Lauren Sefried had 3 kills in the second set. Taylor Gibson also picked up her offensive game late in the second set for the Raiders with 3 kills including the final kill of the match.
The Hawks of Blue Mound Meridian will play in the Consolation game on Tuesday. The Raiders of Peru Parkside will play in the Championship game on Tuesday. |
