Game Comments: The championship game pitted the Hilltoppers of Danville Schlarman against the Wolverines of West Lincoln Broadwell. Both teams started aggressively in the 1st quarter with a swarming full court press and penetration to the basket. In the second quarter the Hilltoppers swarming defense and heads up offense dominated and they added 17 points to their total. The defensive post play of #44 Janie Gross and #53 Aleksas helped Schlarman dominate in the paint. The second half saw more domination by Schlarman’s press and quick offense. Leading scorer for the game was #21 Anaya Peoples. Her heads up guard play was explosive on offense and defense for the Hilltoppers. Schlarmann had points from 6 different players. Leading scorer for the Wolverines was #5 Kaelyn Froebe.
Congratulations to both teams on a great season. This is Danville Schlarman and Coach Keith Peoples first 7-1A State Championship.
