Game Comments: The second semifinal game of the day started a bit lopsided. South Fulton came out scoring double digits in both first half quarters. They were lead by the play of Sommer Burgard who had 12 points in the first half. Winchester didn't seem to have an answer for the Rebels post play. After the halftime the Wolverines of Winchester came out fired up. They scored 16 points and cut the lead to 8 at the end of the third quarter. With 2:35 to play in the fourth quarter Winchester continued their assault and tied the game for the first time since tip-off. They finally took the lead with a 1:25 to play and never looked back. #35 Olivia Kaufmann went 4-6 form the line in the fourth quarter making her free throws when it counted. With 14.7 seconds to play she was at the line and made one of two free throws, but #30 Abby Lashmett for Winchester was able to grab the rebound and head coach Jason Likes called a timeout. After the timeout, Winchester quickly inbounded the ball to Olivia who was fouled and made both her free throws to seal the game. The combo play of guard Olivia Kaufmann and post player Abby Lasmett in the second half along with their free throw shooting were the keys to Winchesters victory. South Fulton went 12 for 22 from the line and 5 for 12 in the second half. Leading scorer for the game was #Abby Lashmett with 23 points and 15 of them in the second half. Olivia Kaufmann added 20 points for the Wolverines. South Fulton also had two players in double digits; Sommer Burgard with 16 points and Kylie Crouse with 12 points.
Winchester will play for their first class 8-2A title on Thursday night.
