| Game Comments: In the third quarterfinal game of the day, Springfield Blessed Sacrament defeated Altamont, 43-28, and will now play the winner of Onaraga Iroquois West and Bloomington Holy Trinity contest at 6:30 p.m. The Bruins jumped out to an early 13-8 lead and took a 19-14 lead into the locker room at halftime. Altamont missed a layup at the buzzer of the second quarter that would have narrowed the halftime lead to three. Blessed Sacrament had two 3 point goals in the third quarter, one each by Cassie Kuizin and Lydia Nelson that helped to extend their lead to nine, 31-22 after three quarters. Both three pointers came at a crucial part of the 3rd stanza and seemed to propel the Bruins into the 4th quarter. The 4th period was all Blessed Sacrament as they outscored Altamont 12-6 to send the Bruins into the second semifinal contest of the day. Altamont (17-8) was led in scoring by 6 ft. center, Gabby Alwardt. Nelson led the Bruins, (25-1) with 14 points. |
