Game Comments: It was a case of too much Ashley Collins for the Havana Ducks Monday afternoon as the 5'7'' guard from Country Club Hills Southwood poured in 31 points in leading her team to a come-from-behind victory, 53-40, to advance to the semifinals of the IESA Class 7AA girls basketball tournament in Riverton. Collins scored on numerous fast break layups and combined with the 14 points of Alexandra Stafford, Southwood outscored Havana 20-5 in the decisive 4th quarter. Collins nearly broke the single game record of 32 points set by Michelle Roberts of Joliet Washington 14 years ago in 1991, but she did set the class 7AA resord for most field goals in a game with 15 bettering the old mark by one set by Jenni Davis of Canton Ingersoll in 1990. Havana, which was led in scoring by Brittany Parker with 11 points, was tied or led after each of the first three periods but Collins was simply too much to handle in the last stanza. Havana ends their season with a sparkling 22-2 record while Southwood improves to 18-2 and plays Tuesday night at 6:00 p.m.
