Game Comments: The first half of the first game of the 2005 7AA girls tournament was a half of streaks. Havana jumped out to a 3-0 lead only to have Rochester finally score its first points of the game at the 3:35 mark of the first quarter. Havana added one free throw in the quarter to lead after one stanza, 4-3. Rochester then scored seven straight points in the second quarter to take an 11-4 lead and held Havana scoreless until there were 50 seconds left in the second quarter. Havana then got a three point play and added two free throws, the last one coming with 11 seconds remaining in the half to cut the deficit to 1, 11-10. However, Rochester ended the half on a high note when #45, Amanda Johnson, scored a bucket as time expired to give Rochester the halftime lead, 13-10. The second half was all Havana as they outscored Rochester 29-6 in the second half. Havana blanked Rochester in the 4th quarter until one second remained in the game when Rochester scored its only two points of the quarter. With 50 seconds remaining in the first half, Rochester led 11-4. Havana then went on a 35-6 run to end Rochester's season at 16-8. Havana only scored 8 field goals all game, but superb free throw shooting led them to victory. The Lady Ducks made 23 of 31 attempts at the charity stripe. Havana upped its record to 22-1 and advances to Monday's quarterfinal game at 4:00 p.m.
