State Final Results and Recap Go to the IESA web site www.iesa.org. Click on the underlined words "Cross-Country" in the box at the top of the home page. The schedule of races is on the cross-country page. Click on the word "INFO" to see the team and individual results and a recap of that race when it has been completed. Ticket Prices: There is no admission charge to watch any and/or all of the races, or the award ceremonies. Where To Stay Cross-country: Many hotels/motels in the area are working with the Bloomington-Normal Area Convention and Visitor's Bureau. They have established IESA rates for the weekend and should be your preferred properties. Regardless of where you choose to stay, be sure to tell the person taking your reservation or checking you in that you are attending the IESA State Final Cross-Country event. How To Get To Maxwell Park: From The North (Option 1) -- Exit from I-55 at Main Street. Go south on Main Street to College Avenue. Turn right and go west on College Avenue to Parkside Road N. Turn right and go north to the Parkside Junior High School parking lot, or park on any of the streets surrounding Maxwell Park. From The North (Option 2) -- Exit from I-55 at Main Street. Go south on Main Street to Gregory. Turn right on Gregory (at Normal University High School) and go west until it T's at Maxwell Park and the Parkside Junior High School grounds. From The South (Option 1) -- Exit from I-55 at Market Street and go east to Martin Luther King Drive (second stop light). Turn left and go north following the road until it reaches White Oak Road (old Route 150). Turn left on White Oak Road and go north to College Avenue. Turn right on College Avenue and go east to the intersection immediately past Parkside Junior High School. At Parkside Road N turn left and go north to the Parkside Junior High School parking lot, or park on any of the streets surrounding Maxwell Park. From The South (Option2) -- Exit from I-55 at Market Street and go east through three stop lights to White Oak Road (old Route 150), which is the street immediately past the railroad tracks on the left. Turn left and go north following White Oak Road to College Avenue. Turn right on College Avenue and go east to the intersection immediately past Parkside Junior High School. At Parkside Road N turn left and go north to the Parkside Junior High School parking lot, or park on any of the streets surrounding Maxwell Park. From The South (Option 3) -- Exit from I-55 at Market Street and go east to downtown Bloomington to the T intersection at East Street. Turn left and go north on Main Street into Normal to Gregory Street (Normal University High School is on the left). Turn left and go west on Gregory Street until it T's at Maxwell Park and the Parkside Junior High grounds. Where To Park: There is limited paved parking space in the parking lot at host Parkside Junior High School. Parking also is available in the paved lot north of Maxwell Park across Gregory Street and in the grass (weather permitting) adjacent to the paved lot on the north side of Gregory Street. Parking is also available on the streets surrounding Maxwell Park and Parkside Junior High School. Parking is free. Where to Watch The Race(s): 1) Starting Boxes: You may watch the start of the race on either side of the course at the starting boxes, or behind the starting boxes. Do not stand in the course. 2) During the Race: You may watch the race from any point on the course, but stay well away from the white course line running through Maxwell Park. Do not stand on the course. 3) Finish Line: You may watch the finish of the race at the funnel or on the course just prior to the chute. The finish of the race will be at the mouth (front end) of the funnel. There will be ropes on both sides of the course funneling the runners through the finish line. Spectators must stay behind the ropes to watch the runners finish. Do not cross from one side of the funnel to the other during the race. What To Wear and What Not To Wear: No runner can compete wearing a watch, according to NFHS Track and Field Rules, which apply to IESA cross-country. We suggest you wear clothing in school colors to support your team and to help distinguish your cheering section along the race course. Be prepared for all types of weather. At this time of year, it can be warm and sunny, cold and rainy, cold and clear, and/or any combination. When the wind blows at Maxwell Park Centre it can bitter and it can be very dusty. When you pack your rain gear, also pack a heavy jacket or a blanket, just in case. IESA By-laws require that all fans attending an IESA state series contest wear shirts at all times they are on the site of the state final event. Shirts must be worn as designed by the manufacturer. Body paint is prohibited. This means spectators and athletes cannot have body paint concealed under their clothing and then remove clothing to display the body paint. Face painting is acceptable. Hair can be any color. Signs and Banners: IESA By-laws do not allow the displaying of signs, banners, balloons, and such, at the site of a state final event. Keep them at home. Noisemakers: IESA By-laws do not allow the use of noisemakers at the state final event. Examples of items that are not allowed include, but are not limited to, Cow Bells, Thunder Sticks, Milk Cartons with rocks inside, Shakers, whistles, electronic sound making devices, and such. Come to the state final event ready to clap and cheer for your athletes. Official Programs: Printed programs, with complete listings of all runners in all races - giving competitor name and school -- and other information, will be on sale the day of the state final for $5.00 each. They also may be purchased from the IESA Office following the conclusion of the state final if they are available. Price per program by mail is $7.50, which includes the cost of postage and handling. Purchase Your Own Special Ad In The Official Program: Parents, fans and/or the school or school booster club may purchase an advertisement in the printed program. The cost varies according to the size of the ad. Deadline for ordering an ad is Wednesday, October 15, 2008. Purchase Team/Individual Photos: Event Pro Photography is the official and only photographer authorized by IESA at state final events and provides a unique souvenir to parents, fans, coaches and school personnel. At the state finals where there is individual competition - cross-country, wrestling and track and field - Event Pro Photography staff can take photographs of individuals, relays and/or teams. They will be offering an 8 x 10 Memory Plaque that includes a team/relay and individual photo for a cost of $35. Once again, all photo plaques are ready to take home before the day is over or while you wait. The company also produces a "Top 25" plaque which combined a group photo of the top 25 finishers in the respective race with the individual photo of the respective top 25 individual finisher. On the first day of all team sports state finals, Event Pro Photography staff takes an official tournament photo of each team and offers a beautiful picture plaque to anyone attending the game. The photo plaque displays the school name along with "IESA State" logos and graphics. Before each team's first game is over, the plaques will be delivered to parents and fans for a cost of $20 each. A team official can pre-order photos from school prior to the state final event by calling Event Pro Photography, Monday-Thursday at (309) 689-0299. Event Pro Photography will be headquartered inside Parkside Junior High School in the Orchestra Room, which is between the gymnasium and the cafeteria commons. The photos are taken in the Orchestra Room either before the race or before the awards ceremony. Orders can be made and picked up there. Purchase Official State Final Apparel: The Cubby Hole is the official and only vendor authorized by IESA to provide fans attending the state final events with the official tournament souvenir apparel. The lineup of souvenir apparel includes: Regular T-Shirts at $15, Long-sleeve T-Shirts at $18, crew neck sweatshirts at $22, hooded sweatshirts at $28, shorts at $18, visors at $12 and caps at $12. Cubby Hole also provides other specialty apparel at the different state finals, like Tank Tops at Track and Field. And you can have your official apparel lettered the way you want it at a cost of $3 for the first line and $2 for each additional line in up to 5 rows of 11 letters. Patches are sold depicting the year, state qualifier and sport for $2 each. You can pre-order your official apparel and lettering through your school. Each school entering the respective state series receives a Cubby Hole Pre-Order Form in a mailing from the IESA Office. Your official apparel can then be picked up at the state final site when you arrive.
