Game Comments: In the last quarterfinal game of the afternoon the Saints of Newton St. Thomas who are first time tournament attendees had their hands full as they faced the Lancers of Joliet Laraway who were making their 5th state appearance after being crowned champions in 2009 and runner up in 2010. The Lancers ran the floor and controlled the pace of the game never really allowing the Saints to establish their offense. The Lancers led 20-5 at the half and continued their scoring pace in the second half to end the game with 38 points. The Saints scored 7 points with Justin Zumbahlen, Will Ochs, and Mitch Bailey each scoring a bucket. Dakoda Joachim led the Lancers with 18 and Taevion Chamberlain poured in 14. The Saints end their season with a record of 16-3. The Lancers earned the final spot in the second quarter final of the evening where they will face the Cyclones of Bloomington Cornerstone. |
