Game Comments: In the state championship game, the Burr Ridge MS Chieftains squared off against the Bloomington Holy Trinity Saints. The Chieftans looked to set the tone early when the started out the game on a 5-0 run. Nick Rakocevic would score two early baskets to help the Chieftans to the early lead. The Saints would not stay down for long and they would storm back into the game. The Saints would only trail by two points going into the second. The Saints were the aggressor at the start of the second. A nice reverse layup by Jake Baughman would help the Saints tie the game. The Saints also had Brett Segobiano make a driving layup and John Rave would hit a three to help them jump out in front. Ravon Johnson would hit a three to help keep the Chieftans close going into the half. The Saints would hold a four point lead going into the half. In the third quarter the teams would battle for control of the contest. But yet again it was the Saints who would take charge and keep a six point lead going into the final quarter. The Chieftans were not even close to being done though. They stormed back in the fourth quarter behind the play of Michael Smith. He scored 15 points in the fourth to complete the comeback and lead the Chieftans to the state championship by a final score of 53-44. Congratulations to both teams on a terrific game.
