Effingham JHS beat St. Anthony in the regular season on Aug. 25. The last time two teams from the same community took home IESA boys baseball trophies was in 1992 when Bloomington JHS took third in Class AA and Bloomington Holy Trinity took second in Class A. Stanford Olympia broken open a scoreless game in the bottom of the fourth when Brandon Wigginton doubled home two runs. Wigginton later scored on a single from Brent Williams. Olympia scored a run in the bottom of the sixth when Laken Settles drove in Matt Glenn with a sacrifice fly. In the top of the seventh Effingham JHS loaded the bases with no outs and Spencer Pratt came in as a relief pitcher for Chase Hainline. Pratt then strikes out Tyler Pilcher and Nate Foreman and gets Alex Steppe to ground out pitcher to first to end the game. Olympia advances to the title game with a 19-3 record.
